Renewable Energy Company Pattern Energy Makes Large Donation to Support Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research

Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research, Inc. – July 19, 2010

Newark, DE – Pattern Energy, based in Texas and California, has made a donation of $100,000 to Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research to support its important mission and efforts on behalf of wildlife. Executives at Pattern Energy were impressed with Tri-State's work in response to the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, prompting them to make a donation to the organization.

John Calaway, director of wind development for Pattern, traveled to the Gulf Coast to present the donation personally to Tri-State's executive director, Heidi Stout, VMD. Stout is a member of the Incident Command for the response and has been traveling between the four Oiled Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers set up along the Coast since the last week in April.

Calaway said, "As a wind power producer in the Gulf, Pattern has a strong connection to the area and we have been alarmed to see the bird population devastated by the oil spill. The impressive efforts of Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research have inspired Pattern to become a major sponsor behind their commitment. I had the opportunity to witness firsthand as Tri-State helped to rescue and clean pelicans and other birds on the Gulf Coast and we are proud to help support their tremendous work. We hope all energy companies take steps to help the Gulf recover from our nation's largest environmental disaster." The funds donated by Pattern will be used to help ensure Tri-State's continued success, for the duration of their tenure on the Gulf Coast caring for compromised wildlife, and long into the future.

Pattern Energy is one of the first renewable energy companies to make a significant donation to Tri-State. In response, Stout said, "As a leader in the renewable energy industry, Pattern Energy has demonstrated their commitment to supplying communities with electricity from renewable sources in concert with a great degree of sensitivity to the environment. The vision of Pattern Energy, enhanced by building partnerships within the environmental community, promotes sustainable energy practices that can be used as a global model. We greatly appreciate that their team recognizes the value of Tri-State's mission."
