Agreement for Wind Energy in Hawaii

Castle & Cooke Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy Group Announce Agreement for Wind Energy in Hawai'i

Honolulu, Hawai'i, April 8, 2011 – Castle & Cooke Renewable Energy (Castle & Cooke) and Pattern Energy Group LP (Pattern Energy) today announced an agreement for wind energy in Hawai'i. The agreement will allow Pattern Energy to utilize a portion of Castle & Cooke's 400 - megawatt wind energy allocation under the Interisland Wind project to pursue a wind project on Moloka'i.

"Ultimately, our goal is to find a solution that serves the best long-term interests of all of the residents of the state of Hawai'i and helps the State achieve its clean energy goals," said Harry Saunders, president of Castle & Cooke Hawai'i. "We are very pleased that we will be able to work with one of the leading wind energy producers in the world to help reduce Hawai'i's dependence on foreign oil."

"Pattern Energy is interested in the opportunity to provide clean energy to Hawai'i in a responsible way," said David Parquet, Director of Special Projects. "We are exploring the feasibility of a project on Moloka'i Ranch and look forward to learning how a wind project could best provide clean energy to Hawai'i and meaningful benefits to Moloka'i."

Pattern Energy has been identified by Moloka'i Ranch as the preferred wind developer should a wind project be developed on the Ranch and Pattern has an agreement with the Ranch to explore that opportunity.
